Tea saponin:
Tea saponin is triterpenoid saponin substance abstracted from wild camellia seed. the product testes bitter and spicy. It stimulates mucous membane of nose to lead to sneeze.  the pure is fine white column-shape crystalloid with strong moisture absorption ability. It presents apparent acidity to methyl red and is hard to be dissolved in non-water methanol, non-water ethanol, and cannot be dissolved in organic dissolvent like acetone, benzene and petroleum ehter. It is easy to be dissolved in water, water-contained methanol, water-contained ethanol, galcial acetic acid, acetic anhydride and pyridine etc.  Melting point is **4C.
Tea saponin has two charateristics, one is surface activity, the other is biological activity. As the surface activity, it is ans excellent nonionic surfactant which is proved to have funtions of widely used in pesticide, textile, daily chemcials and concrete meterials without any pollution. As its biological cativity, it is used in shrimp and crab breeding, helping they to take off shell earlier and enhance the growth of shrimps.
